This spring, we are delighted to announce our very first female-focused retreat at Kilminorth – REVITALISEHER.
Recent evidence has shown that women often find themselves caught in between the demands of a professional role and looking after their personal wellbeing. The relentless pace of the business world can take its toll, leaving many of us feeling depleted and burnt out.
Without allowing space to reset and recalibrate, we can struggle to continue performing at our best. Recognising this pressing need for balance and self-development, we have created the REVITALISEHER retreat, to provide a dedicated safe space to relax and invest our time back into ourselves.
More than just a retreat, REVITALISEHER is a transformative experience tailored specifically for women, empowering them to prioritise their health and wellness. We also encourage employers to place value on the wellbeing of their staff and to recognise that investing in their health is an investment into the continuing success of the company.
Through a carefully crafted itinerary, REVITALISEHER provides a beautiful sanctuary for reflection, growth, and renewal. The retreat seeks to highlight the profound connection between personal rejuvenation and sustainable professional growth.
It has been noticed that a well-supported and balanced workforce, particularly in senior roles, is more resilient, innovative, and ultimately more successful. As women increasingly step away from their careers, it is important to recognise the growing need to prioritise personal development and overall wellbeing as a foundational component of successful business strategy.
We have been in this position ourselves, and so we know what is needed in order to make REVITALISEHER the perfect space for women in business. Across the weekend, you will have time to connect with like-minded individuals and time to reflect on your own, in a nurturing environment alongside the guidance of our experienced practitioners.
Our intention is to bring together nutrition, wellness, workshops and therapeutic modalities into a harmonious experience that leaves you with a renewed sense of passion, purpose and heart driven focus.
The Weekend Ahead
We will be offering nutritious and balanced plant-based food and non-alcoholic drinks, with the ability to cater for dietary requirements. Upon arrival on Friday, you are welcomed into the space with an opening ceremony and welcome dinner, where you can connect with us and the other guests. There will be a choice of activities such as an evening walk or a swim before continuing introductions and conversation around the fire pit.
On Saturday morning, you are invited to enjoy an early swim or Pilates session before a nutritious breakfast. The day will continue with a morning wellbeing workshop, a delicious lunch, and a choice of afternoon activities which will be outlined before your arrival. After dinner, we will relax with a gong bath and then gather together for a cosy evening around the firepit.
On Sunday, the morning starts with another swim, walk or Pilates session and wholesome breakfast, before our next wellbeing workshop. We will then lead into our closing ceremony before lunch, and a choice of activities to enjoy in the afternoon. In the evening we will delight in our final dinner together and spend some time at Marley’s Bar, before concluding the weekend around the firepit.
On Monday we indulge in a healthy breakfast before departing by 10am, feeling refreshed and revitalised for the week ahead.
The Accommodation
If you haven’t visited Kilminorth before, we are very lucky to be situated in the stunning Cornish countryside, surrounded by unspoilt landscape and historic woodlands. Our cottages are luxuriously converted barn buildings, available on an exclusive basis for this retreat, so your only neighbours will be your fellow guests, the practitioners, and a core team from Kilminorth. This ensures the retreat is a safe and private space in which to relax and fully immerse into the experience.
Our cottages range in size, with some boasting hot tubs and expansive countryside views, perfect for moments of calm reflection after our workshops and deep conversations held over the course of the weekend. We truly feel these spaces are home from home, allowing you to fully switch off from daily life and work solely on your own health and wellbeing in luxurious comfort.
Your Practitioners
Julie and Rose bring an abundance of skill and life experience to this retreat.
Julie has dedicated over 25 years to supporting individuals experiencing significant trauma, substance misuse, and mental health challenges, gaining a profound understanding of the intricacies that arise during the process of rebuilding and navigating complex lives.
Her own transformative journey involved overcoming substantial trauma, long-term substance use as a coping mechanism, and a determined effort towards personal recovery and professional reintegration.
Navigating through the employment system, she pursued training as a counsellor, child and adolescent therapist, and EMDR Specialist. Having overseen various women’s projects, Julie currently serves as the CEO of Harbour, Plymouth’s drug and alcohol service. Her first-hand experiences in navigating life, recovery, parenthood, menopause, and most recently, breast cancer, uniquely qualify her to understand the variety of challenges faced by women in senior leadership roles.
Rose specialises in guiding reflective processes, offering individuals the opportunity to assess their current positions, articulate their aspirations, and envision the desired look and feel of their lives. For over 20 years in the voluntary sector, she has developed services for those facing multiple disadvantages, with her leadership and managerial roles in the sector earning recognition locally and nationally.
In 2021, amidst the COVID crisis and her own menopause journey, Rose made a conscious decision to prioritise her wellbeing, and established a freelance business creating spaces that encouraged introspection within the broader context of their lives. As a coach and reflective spaces facilitator, she guides individuals to envision their desired life, where they want to be and how they want to feel. Drawing on polyvagal principles, Rose helps others understand stress responses, fostering self-care strategies that support a more fulfilled life. Recognising the interconnection of wellbeing and productivity, she believes that finding overall wellness and balance of self leads to effective action.
By merging these skills, Julie & Rose are excited to launch these incredible retreats for women, which will take place twice each year here at Kilminorth. Beyond the health and wellbeing benefits, we invite you and employers to embrace the concept that wellness is not a luxury but an essential foundation for sustainable health and overall success. We want you to attend our retreat to give something back to yourselves, after years of giving yourself to everyone else.
We would love to invite you to our first retreat on Friday 12th April to Monday 15th April 2024, which you can learn more about here. If you are unable to attend this one, we will be hosting another later in the year. Please drop us an email and you’ll be first to know when cottages become available to book.
