There are so many advantages to organising team-building events for your business or organisation.
It not only creates an environment where colleagues can bond and support one another without the distraction of work responsibilities, but it also improves trust and communication within the whole team alongside problem-solving, interpersonal skills and unity.
Encouraging employees to spend time together outside of the office can help form positive relationships and generate greater levels happiness, whilst relieving any work-related stress – this leads to a more effective and productive team, massively reducing the likelihood of high staff turnover.
Here at Kilminorth, we can accommodate corporate bookings, whether it’s a one-day workshop or a whole weekend of jam-packed activities staying in our beautifully renovated Cornish cottages. There are some companies in the area that can be hired to bring the activities to you. We have compiled a list of a few suppliers, making planning your next event a breeze!
Hiring the whole venue
This is a great option for bigger organisations where the team can enjoy our cottages around the scheduled activities and events. If the great British weather lives up to typical expectations, it might be that the team building exercises need to be carried out inside, and if that’s the case, there’s plenty that can be organised within our spacious cottages; cookery classes, murder mysteries and building projects to name just a few ideas.
Hiring a cottage
If using the whole venue is a stretch too far, you are also welcome to hire a handful of our cottages which vary in size and are suitable for smaller teams. A more intimate setting is great for meetings or smaller team building activities and the change of scenery from the usual office space is bound to spark new ideas – especially when our grounds are as breathtaking as they are. A relaxed environment like Kilminorth can help to create a closer team dynamic.
Additional ideas for a smaller team could be memory games, quiz-style competitions, craft/skill based projects or even a good old traditional board game to get some friendly competitiveness flowing!
We recently welcomed the Cornwall Adventures team who provided some fantastic activities. This included yoga in the meadow, a guided bushcraft experience with a survival expert and an outdoor cooking experience around our open firepit! It doesn’t stop there; Justin and his team provide many exciting opportunities which are perfect for team building and events at Kilminorth.
Pilates is a great addition to team building, or even a great way to kickstart your corporate meeting – if you’re hosting a meeting here, you might as well take advantage of the space and add a slight twist to your usual itinerary. We recently have had Amy Batty PT attend, hosting gentle pilates sessions alongside calming sound therapy led by sensi Cathy Savage.
Below are some additional companies to look into who offer experiences for most group sizes:
Staying within the grounds
Kilminorth is home to a stunning natural landscape and neighbours the enchanted Kilminorth Woods. Heading out for one of our routed walks and into the woods with your team whilst taking in the Cornish fresh air will increase mental focus, alongside boosting energy levels. With all of this outdoor space to utilise, it’s a great opportunity to find a spot for some creative writing, art activities or even a sport-based activity such as yoga or pilates. Activities can run from an hour to a full day depending on your requirements and schedule.
Booking a private chef
Alongside these ideas, perhaps you could hire a private chef to come and cook for you and the team? We have some awesome suppliers to recommend that are perfect for an in-house dining experience or an alfresco meal time! Conversation over dinner is a wonderfully natural way to learn more about each other, connect and explore ideas, strengthening relationships between the team, all whilst enjoying a delicious meal.
We are lucky to have such an incredible offering of fresh, local produce around us and even luckier to have fantastic local chefs to cook up a storm here at Kilminorth. We’ve recently completed our commercial kitchen project and have hosted a range of local suppliers already! Elements by Jack Clements and sister-duo Abi and Nat of M2 Catering have supplied some fantastic private dining options for our guests who wanted to soak up their surroundings whilst bringing the restaurant to them! We are really excited that guests to Kilminorth have this offering to compliment their team building experience with us.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kilminorth for a memorable team building experience. You are also able to bring your own suppliers, or use our recommendations. If you’d like to get in touch, pop us an email to events@kilminorthcottages.co.uk and our team would be happy to assist you further.
