There’s something very special about autumn in Cornwall. The crowds have left for home, the coastline quietens, and the county takes on a new kind of beauty – golden light, crisp air, and that irresistible invitation to slow down.
The hedgerows are bursting with berries, leaves crunch underfoot, and the beaches feel almost private. It’s the perfect time to explore, unwind, and reconnect, and here at Kilminorth, we think it’s also the perfect time to feast.
Just a short stroll from our cottages, you can wander down through ancient woodland to reach the estuary at Watergate, where the tide ebbs and flows through the valley. Or head out along the South West Coast Path from nearby Looe and take in sweeping views of the sea as it shifts from silver to stormy blue. There’s no better way to work up an appetite.
And when the walking boots come off, that’s where October Feast at Kilminorth comes in. Our October Feast is one of those events that captures the spirit of the season – relaxed, rustic, and full of flavour. It’s about gathering together, sharing good food, and celebrating the simple pleasures that make this time of year so special. Guests are welcomed into our cosy marquee, strung with twinkling lights and warmed by good company.
Forget the formalities of plated dinners – this is feasting, Kilminorth style. All the best bits of a Sunday roast, served as a board to share with your group. Think carved meat, seasonal sides, crispy roast potatoes, and all the trimmings, brought to the table for everyone to tuck into together.
It’s hearty, home-cooked food with a focus on local produce, the kind that brings people closer – the sound of carving, the passing of dishes, the laughter between bites. And to finish? Something sweet, of course. Because no autumn gathering is complete without dessert. It’s the kind of event that feels like coming home.
At Kilminorth, we love bringing people together, and our seasonal feasts are about more than just food. They’re a chance to reconnect with friends, to make new ones, and to experience a slice of Cornish hospitality in its truest form.
The October Feast marks the start of those slower months, when we all start to turn inwards a little, swapping summer salads for roast dinners, alfresco evenings for candlelit ones. It’s a reminder that celebration doesn’t always need an occasion, sometimes, the season itself is reason enough.
If you’re joining us for the Feast, why not make a weekend of it? Our self-catered cottages are just steps away from the marquee which is the perfect place to retreat after a full afternoon of food and laughter. Each cottage is designed for comfort, with open-plan living spaces, cosy sofas, and some with private hot tubs for those chilly autumn evenings. Wake up surrounded by countryside views, pop the kettle on, and enjoy a slow morning before heading out to explore.
There’s so much to see nearby, take a trip to Looe for fresh seafood by the harbour, wander the cobbled streets of Polperro, or head inland to explore the moorlands and hidden waterfalls of Bodmin Moor. And if you’re bringing your four-legged friend along, you’ll be glad to know Kilminorth is completely dog-friendly, and that’s cottages, woodlands, and even our Feast events included.
Whether you’re a local looking for something special to do this October, or visiting Cornwall for a seasonal getaway, the October Feast at Kilminorth is the kind of event that lingers with you long after it’s over. It’s a blend of everything we love about this time of year, good food, great company, and the kind of atmosphere that only happens when people gather to share it.
So, as the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to turn, why not spend an autumn afternoon with us, sharing food, laughter, and good company? Bring your friends, bring your appetite, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our October Feast takes place on Sunday 26th October here at Kilminorth. Tickets are available now via our website, but spaces are limited, and this event is selling fast!
And if you fancy making a weekend of it, take a look at our autumn staycations, because there’s nothing quite like heading back to your own cottage, slipping into the hot tub, and watching the stars come out over the Cornish countryside.
Good food, great company, and that unmistakable autumn magic.
