Cornwall is often thought of as a summer-long holiday destination, but sometimes a quick two-night escape is all you need to reset, recharge, and create unforgettable memories. That’s where Kilminorth comes in.
Tucked away in 32 acres of countryside, just a stone’s throw from Looe and Polperro, our cottages offer the perfect base for exploring South East Cornwall, whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a little of both. To help you make the most of your time, we’ve pulled together a ready-made itinerary for 48 hours around Kilminorth.
Think of it as a mix-and-match guide – whether you’re here as a family, a couple, with friends, or bringing your four-legged sidekick along for the ride.
Day One – Arrival and Settling In
There’s something super special about the journey to Kilminorth. The further into Cornwall you drive, the more the pace slows down, the views open up, and that holiday feeling starts to take over. When you arrive, you’ll find your cottage waiting for you – each one a mix of rustic charm and modern comfort, with everything you need for a home-from-home stay.
Once you’ve dropped your bags and had a quick wander around our grounds (dogs usually head straight for the agility meadow!), you can ease into your stay one of two ways:
By the time you head back, you’ll already feel miles away from everyday life.
Day Two – Exploring Coast and Countryside
Wake up to birdsong and fresh country air – one of the things our guests always say they notice first. After breakfast in your cottage (or pastries from a local bakery in Looe), it’s time to set out and explore.
Morning – Woodland or Coastal Walks
Afternoon – A Trip to Polperro
Head a little further along the coast and you’ll find Polperro, a postcard-perfect fishing village. Wander its narrow streets, explore the independent shops and galleries, and take in the harbour views. If you’re feeling energetic, the coastal path between Polperro and Looe offers some of the most stunning scenery in Cornwall – dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and endless sea views.
For lunch, stop at one of the traditional pubs serving hearty Cornish fare, or pick up a pasty to enjoy al fresco overlooking the sea.
Evening – Back to Kilminorth
After a day of exploring, return to Kilminorth for a slower evening. Fire up the barbecue in summer, or hunker down with blankets and a board game in the cooler months. For families, kids can burn off the last of their energy on the swings and trampoline, while couples can enjoy a glass of wine under the stars.
Day Three – Making the most of your last morning
Just because you’re heading home doesn’t mean the adventure has to stop. Depending on how much time you have, there are plenty of ways to spend your final hours:
The beauty of Kilminorth is in its flexibility. Our 14 self-catering cottages range in size, meaning we can welcome everyone from couples to larger groups of family and friends. Being dog-friendly means no one gets left behind (and kennels aren’t needed), and with acres of countryside, an outdoor pool, a dog agility meadow, and plenty of open space, you don’t even need to leave the site to enjoy your stay.
But for those who do like to explore, our location is second to none. Within 10 minutes you can be in Looe, Polperro, or Talland Bay. Within 30 minutes, you can reach Whitsand Bay, Seaton, or even the edge of Bodmin Moor. It means you can see a lot of Cornwall, even in a short space of time.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Weekend
Whether it’s a spontaneous autumn escape, a springtime family break, or a romantic summer weekend, Kilminorth is built for making the most of your time. Two nights here can feel like so much more – because the moment you arrive, you step into a different pace of life.
