We’re very much looking forward to our Wedding Open Day, which takes place on Sunday 9th June 2024. It’s going to be a great opportunity to meet some wonderful local suppliers and take a tour around our stunning historic site, surrounded by the unspoilt beauty of the Cornish countryside. If you’re completely new to Kilminorth, we’re very lucky to have an ancient woodland, wild flower meadows, and acres of stunning grounds, providing not just an incredible setting to enjoy celebrating with family and friends, but also stunning backdrops for your photos!
Why visit our wedding open day?
Attending our wedding open day gives you the chance to see Kilminorth dressed up and ready for weddings around our beautiful site, and it helps you familiarise with our facilities across the grounds. Beyond the ceremony spaces, you can see other areas such as our Cornish cottages. Tours might be possible, subject to occupancy levels that weekend. Just speak to our team on the day about this.
You’ll also be able to explore options for your wedding reception. And of course, you can check out our dog-friendly facilities if you’re wanting to bring your pooch along to your big day! We have recently just won Silver for Dog-Friendly Business of the Year in the SW Tourism Awards, so rest assured all family members are welcome to celebrate with you.
It is a great opportunity to explore and envision how your wedding might look and how you can personalise Kilminorth to suit your preferences and needs. It’s so different from just looking at pictures online or in brochures because you can see the actual size, layout, and overall ambience of each setting. Seeing Kilminorth decorated for a wedding can provide much inspiration, and you might see layout ideas, décor styles, or creative touches that you hadn’t considered before.
Our open day will have venue staff available to answer questions and provide information that can help you make informed decisions about where to hold your special celebration. It’s a chance to gather information, discuss ideas, and ensure that the space you choose is the perfect fit for your wedding dreams.
Prepare before you visit
Preparing before attending an open day can maximise the experience and help you make more informed choices, ticking off some of the items on your wedding checklist. Firstly, you can research Kilminorth beforehand, familiarising yourself with our offerings, facilities, and any special features you might like to discuss. Next, have an idea of budget and talk through your wedding priorities with your partner to ensure you can focus on ideas that align with your finances and requirements. It’s also a good idea to capture photos and videos as you explore, and consider bringing along any key decision-makers, such as family members or close friends to gather diverse perspectives and opinions.
Remember to pick up our wedding brochure and any leaflets from visiting suppliers so you can refer to them later and to help with designing your perfect wedding day. Most importantly, take some time before you go to make a list of questions to ask during your visit so that no important details are overlooked.
To help, we’ve compiled a list of 10 useful things to ask about when you get here:
1. Availability: What dates are available for weddings within our desired time frame?
2. Capacity: How many guests can you accommodate for each space, and do you require a minimum number of guests? Can we have a different number of guests for the wedding and the reception?
3. Ceremony: Are you licensed for civil ceremonies? What ceremony spaces are available for our party size, and are there indoor and outdoor options? Is there a wet-weather contingency plan in place?
4. Photography: What are the photo opportunities? Can we have photos across different parts of the site?
5. Catering: Can you tell me more about your in-house catering? What menus are available for our wedding size, and do you cater for special dietary requirements? Are outside caterers allowed?
6. Decorations: What decorations are included with the venue hire, and are there restrictions or guidelines for bringing in additional decor?
7. Setup and breakdown: How much time do we have for setup and breakdown? Is there an additional fee for extended hours?
8. Suppliers: Are there any restrictions on suppliers and vendors we can use, such as photographers, DJs, or florists? Do you have any recommended or preferred suppliers?
9. Offers: Do you have any offers for our dates or for particular dates?
10. Backup plan: What provisions are in place in case of unforeseen circumstances?
We’re very excited for our upcoming weddings this spring and can’t wait to talk through your ideas with you at our open day. Kilminorth is a wonderfully romantic venue with plenty of options to help personalise, so that you can make your celebration align with your dreams.
